COVID FOR CHRISTMAS/GRACE, GRATITUDE & GROUP MEDITATION IN THE NEW YEAR

On Tuesday my wife and I were experiencing symptoms and got tested. On Friday, Christmas day the results came back positive for COVID-19. We were shocked and angry. We had done everything right. We always wore masks out, even when exercising outside. No travel, no dinning out. Nothing. Fortunately we both had mild cases and our children had no symptoms at all. It was weird for me. Chills but no fever. Feeling run down. My sense of smell and taste gone for several days. I still have some mental fog, I’m not all there yet.

LA is the epicenter for COVID in the world right now. Our hospitals are overwhelmed. Our poor healthcare workers are exhausted beyond belief. We are so grateful our symptoms were mild. Gratitude is everything. That’s the takeaway. Past all the fear, anger, ruminating on my health, mental state and mortality, I’m grateful. I look at the state of my country, the USA. It’s so divisive and chaotic and disheartening. But all I have to do is reflect on the great spiritual giants of India where this meditation I teach and practice originates. Giants like Vasishta, Vyasa, Guadapada, Adi Shankara, Guru Deva, Sri Aurobindo, and on and on. They were looking for growth, truth, enlightenment and all the while dealing with personal tragedy, invaders, wicked kings, British colonizers and disasters of all kinds.

Meditation isn’t an escape, although it has been a balm for me through this. When we are sick we can meditate as much as we like, anytime. It has helped so much. And I know with group meditation it’s the more, the merrier. All are welcome whether you practice Vedic Meditation or not. Meditating with others creates a deeper experience and enlivens your practice. This meditation is so powerful, even online it makes a difference. It’s a great way to socialize and ask questions too.

Staring January 13th, 2021 we’ll meet every Wednesday night at 6PM Pacific. I hope to see you there. Be well.
